Clyde Cruising Club Centenary Cruise
Join us on the Clyde Cruising Club Centenary Cruise. Along with 200 other yachts take part in cruising to the Western Isles and join in the races, festivities, and beach barbecues.
This will be a self catered cruise where you will take part in all aspects of running and crewing the yacht. Join the yacht in Oban at 10am on Saturday 17th July. After stowing your gear it's all hands to the pump to victual the yacht for departure. We then set sail for Ardfern to arrive on Sunday for registration to the event and the opening party. An early start on the Monday to take part in the race to Tobermory. After a night in Tobermory there will be a short sail into Loch Sunart and through the narrow entrance into Loch Druimbuide to take part in a massive sunflower.
From Wednesday onwards we will cruise in company visiting the islands of Rum, Canna, Skye and Barra before arriving at the Island of Vatersay for a beach barbecue on Sunday 25th July. On our way back to Oban Friday evening will see us back at the Island of Kerrera, Oban for the final Cruise Celebration Dinner. After the festivities it's time to disembark the yacht at 10am the next morning.
The price includes tuition, the use of all safety equipment. If you have a favourite nibble or tipple you are welcome to bring it along. You will have to bring waterproofs (some help can be given with those), warm clothes, a hat, sleeping bag, soft soled non-slip shoes and wellington boots. Cars may be parked free of charge at Oban. Scotrail run 3 trains a day between Glasgow Queen Street station and Oban. Citylink run 3 express coaches a day between Glasgow and Oban and once a day between Edinburgh and Oban.
