Our Boat
“Aislig Bheag” is Gaelic for small dream or vision and is pronounced Aishlick Veck in a soft, lilting highland accent. It is a Jeanneau Trinidad 48′, with roller reefing on the foresail and lazy jacks on the mainsail for easy handling. The inconspicuous pilot house has large panoramic windows, making the main saloon light and airy.
Built for speed and comfort, she has plenty of room for the crew to sleep, eat, and relax making her appealing to novices trying sailing for the first time and the more experienced sailor looking for a bit of comfort. There is ample storage space, duvets and pillows.

Equipment
Equipment on board includes Raymarine Autohelm sailing instruments, chart plotter with Admiralty Charts, AIS tracker, GPS, VHF radio, autopilot, internal LED lighting, liferaft, EPIRB, lifejackets, safety harnesses, and all other legally required safety equipment to confirm with RYA and MCA regulations.
Tourist information on places likely to be visited is also carried, and a CD and DVD player is available with an MP3/iPod interface. USB charging points for phones are provided in each cabin as well as 240v sockets.

Meet our Skippers

John has skippered Aislig Bheag since 2002. As a passionate sailing enthusiast since a boy he has sailed extensively around the West Coast of Scotland with the occasional longer foray to the Faeroe’s, Norway, Russia, the Baltic, the Mediterranean, trans Atlantic crossings and the Caribbean. He became a commercially endorsed yacht-master offshore in the mid 90’s in order that he could enjoy passing on his skills and knowledge of the area to others. He particularly enjoys fostering the friendships that build up among the crew and promoting the confidence in their ability to handle the yacht.

Gordon is a co-owner of Cruise Ecosse and a skipper with extensive experience in offshore and deep sea sailing. Like our other skippers, he has a wide knowledge of the best areas of the west of Scotland for great sailing, wildlife, food and photography.
Following a career in shipping, Gordon obtained a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster (Ocean) certificate and developed a lifelong love of sailing into a vocation in an area of some of the most interesting and rewarding sailing in the World which we look forward to sharing with you
Catering
At Cruise Ecosse, all our yacht charters are fully catered to keep you well fed throughout your voyage. Enjoy a selection of breakfast options each morning, followed by fresh rolls, sandwiches, and savoury snacks for lunch. Each evening, relax with a home-cooked meal - often prepared by your skipper, with crew and guests welcome to lend a hand. We’re happy to accommodate dietary requirements and encourage guests to share these in advance. On longer trips, we may also dine ashore at local spots when moored in marinas.
We encourage guests to bring their favourite tipple, snacks or sweet treats if they wish!
